| Wilkes County Veterinary Services is looking to add a full time mixed animal veterinarian to our busy 4 doctor practice. Located in Washington, GA, a rural historic town approximately 45 minutes from Athens and Augusta. We have a varied caseload: roughly 60% small animal (companion animals and few exotics) and 25% bovine and 15% equine. Large animal consists of beef cows, dairy cows, small ruminants and occasionally pigs. The applicant should be comfortable with working on all species. Numerous diagnostic tools are utilized in the clinic: CBC, Chemistry, T4, Cortisol, Bile Acids, Digital Radiographs, Ultrasound, Dental Machine, EKG, Pulse Ox, Cold Laser, and more. Large animal equipment/portable tools: Ultrasound with a rectal probe and another with a linear probe for tendons, PowerFloat, Digital radiographs, and a fully stocked vet truck. The clinic is a state of the art facility that was built in 2017 and has 4 exam rooms, numerous hospital cages, Isolation, and a full boarding kennel. The clinic employs 2 receptionists, a business manager, groomer and 2-1 vet assistant to doctor ratio. We also work closely with numerous high school, tech schools and with UGA to provide externships to help teach students.
Each veterinarian is provided with their own expense-paid vet truck to drive for work and all the equipment to stock it. On call is required and is split between doctors to average one weekend a month and one day a week. The clinic is open Monday to Friday and half days on Saturdays. Saturday’s are worked on an every other week schedule. A 3 day weekend is built in to the schedule every month for each doctor. A staff member is on call with each doctor to provide assistance on after hour calls. The clinic provides: health insurance, disability insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, continuing education costs, organization dues, vacation/sick days, retirement with a match, and a separate phone for on call.
