Rock Stars welcome! New and recent graduates seeking stellar mentoring are strongly encouraged to apply.
Two additional Associate Veterinarian positions have been created to join our already excellent and expanding veterinary care team. We are currently a two doctor small animal veterinary hospital located in Derby, CT.
Interested in working a 3 or 4 day schedule? We offer flexible scheduling.
Do you have a strong interest in soft tissue surgical procedures using a CO2 surgical laser?
Our focus is preventative care and the early detection of diseases. Our client compliance for diagnostic testing is high, and this is a direct result of our extensive communication with clients. We are very well known for our excellent client communication, and it is one of the first and most frequently mentioned comments from new clients. We have a large number of second opinion appointments booked. These appointments usually result in these clients switching to our practice.
Our pricing structure is designed to encourage and enable clients to agree to Doctor suggested diagnostics such as lab work or radiographs. More than 3 views are priced to automatically be read by a Radiologist. We feel clients are paying for diagnostics and not "pictures", and this supports better patient outcomes, in our experience.
In addition to utilizing the services of emergency referral hospital specialists, we also have a Surgeon who regularly schedules surgery for our patients at our hospital. An Internist also regularly schedules in-hospital ultrasounds for our patients.
We will never be open for appointments on Sundays or Saturday afternoons. This is the domain of our numerous emergency referral hospitals we are so lucky to have nearby. We frequently turf cases requiring additional supportive care to the referral hospitals. This provides the best option for difficult cases overnight and helps to maintain proper work life balance for our doctors and staff.
We are a Cat Friendly Practice Silver member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
You can learn some more about us and the in-hospital equipment on our website. We just added a Vet Scalpel CO2 surgery laser to our hospital. If you do not see your favorite tool or modality, it is probably on our acquisition list for 2022 or 2023, and if not, it can be added to better support our new Associates. Our patient records are maintained digitally, in our practice management software, Avimark. New client paper records from other practices are scanned upon arrival.
Candidates must be able to obtain DEA license and Connecticut license to practice veterinary medicine.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to change focus on critical tasks in a fast-paced environment while fully supporting the patients and your teammates.
Knowledge of and/or experience with Fear Free principles and techniques is a plus.
All full-time employees at River Valley enjoy four weeks of paid time-off per annum. This is, of course, in addition to the standard six paid national holidays.
We strongly believe in the benefits of continuing education for all of our team, not just those with a DVM after their name or the managers. We send our Veterinary Technicians to national veterinary conferences. We also provide frequent online CE opportunities to make our entire team better able to help when that difficult case arrives.
Our Vets have all of their expenses paid for attending annual Continuing Education fulfilled at excellent national veterinary conferences (i.e. Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas and VMX in Orlando are probably two of the best examples). We also cover the cost for AVMA membership, DVM PLIT, DVM license for practicing in Connecticut, Fear Free certification and annual Fear Free CE, and a Veterinary Information Network (VIN) subscription.
Your contract will NOT have a "non-compete" clause or any other employee unfriendly language in any of the clauses.
We offer a variety of compensation package options that can be further customized to fit with how you want to navigate the work/life balance equation, including:
$22,000 sign-on bonus evenly distributed over the first 11 months of employment.
Student loan repayment stipend available.
Relocation stipend available.
$3,600 annual fund for your exclusive discretionary use to discount our client invoices when financial constraints severely limit otherwise promising outcomes for your patients.
$4,800 (for 2022 calendar year) HRA amount available to reimburse employee health insurance expenses.
100% professional services discount (balance beyond 20% is taxed as earned income per IRS rules).
Veterinary product discount of hospital cost plus 10%.
