The Animal Health Care Center of Hershey in Hershey Pennsylvania is looking for a small animal associate veterinarian to join our team. We are looking to add to our team of 6 (4.5 FTE) veterinarians and 20+ support team members. Full time or part time options available. We have all the shiny things you could want as a practicing small animal vet (digital radiography, dental radiography, in-house lab and ultrasound, therapeutic laser, and so on and so forth...) but our intangibles are what make us special.
· we have team members who stay with us for long periods of time likely because we treat our team members well and let them do their jobs (read: so vets can be vets),
· as a vet on appointments you typically get 2 technicians/assistants paired with you so once again you can do vet things and they can do tech things,
· we have a separate pharmacy technician to handle pharmacy meds/refills/inquires,
· we have a separate treatment technician to handle tech appointments, manage hospitalized cases, and assist with treatments on outpatient procedures,
· our hospital has 5 examination rooms (4 regular exam rooms and one comfort/consult room with separate outside entrance) making appointment flow efficient,
· we don't do on-call (been there done that, we're over it...and an ER center is 2 min away),
· we have cloud-based computerized medical records,
· we practice low-stress handling and sedate (orally or injectably) for stressful procedures so our patients don’t hate us and we don’t feel like mean people,
· we have great clients (they bring us lots of treats)...
· but like everyone there are some clients that drive us nuts yet we have a management team that is not afraid to let clients know if they're out of line and need to shape up or ship out,
· our Christmas party is a good time (seriously some of our staff talk about it for months!),
· we work hard..but also have fun (because who doesn't want to have fun?)
· our hours are 7AM-6:30PM M-F and Sat AM from 8AM-12PM so no late evening work is expected
· we have an owner veterinarian who enjoys teaching and mentoring students and would be open to mentoring the motivated new grad or young veterinarian. Our last hire was a new-grad; she would be willing to talk to you about how mentoring worked for her at our hospital
· Now for the more boring stuff –
o we are privately owned and operated
o salary is via Pro-Sal (no negative accrual)
o we pay all the things and have all the perks (license renewals, DEA, VIN/AVMA/PVMA memberships, 100% health insurance for FT employees, Simple IRA with 3% match, prof liability coverage, pet care discounts, access to dental/vision coverage, CE allowances, 3 weeks vacation not including sick-time or time off for CE
o What we’re looking for in regards to schedule (varies if you’re looking for part time or full time work): one surgery day from ~7:30 am till about 4 pm; up to three 5 hour appointment blocks (PMs are 1-6pm, AMs are 7-12), one Saturday AM a month from 8-12 noon
